It’s always a treat when Lana releases new music and Henry Come on is certainly no exception.
This latest single flows seamlessly from Lana Del Rey’s last album, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd? With those trademark breathy vocals Lana is so well known for.

The pre chorus is divine and it’s absolutely my favourite part of Henry, Come On – the little rise as Lana’s voice grows, the short phrasing that creates just a hint of urgency. It’s lovely. The song as a whole feels light and airy and is your fairly traditional pop song, just done really really well.
Lyrically it’s a story of a relationship. The chaotic kind that’s just doomed to fail but takes those involved a little while to work it out. I love the subtle undertones of regret and warmth, that touch of mourning despite the overlying feeling that this wasn’t a good situation and needed to end. You can hear the thought processes of someone working to break ties, “I’ll still be nice to your mom” really hit me. Lana does this touch of real-life melancholy beautifully.
