Category: Songs To Brush Your Teeth To

Stop starting your day with boring radio or the same old shuffle. Songs to Brush Your Teeth To is a weekly curated series designed to soundtrack your morning routine with new music discovery.

The concept is simple: I hand-pick five new songs every week that are roughly 2–3 minutes long—the perfect length for a solid teeth-brushing session. We swap the generic “weekly top five” for a personal voice, highlighting the best new tracks, indie releases, and Australian artists you need to hear. Whether you need a high-energy anthem to wake you up or a chill lo-fi beat to start the day, you’ll find your next favorite song right here. Brush better, listen louder.

A big week of @goldenplainsfestival side show anno A big week of @goldenplainsfestival side show announcements this week! Swipe to read our tour news of who you can catch coming to Aus soon! It’s been another big week of international announcements. So excited for this one! Haute & Freddy have announced their debut tour of Australia, bringing their flamboyant collision of theatrical pop, underground club culture, and runaway-circus spectacle to audiences for the first time next March.Comprised of Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp, Haute & Freddy fuse theatrical flair, underground club culture and synth-driven maximalism into a bold alt-pop universe built around fearless self-expression. Their critically acclaimed debut album, Big Disgrace, introduced that world in full — a decadent collision of vintage spectacle, dancefloor catharsis and unapologetic individuality that has inspired a rabid and devoted fan community.Polka-Dot math rockers Angine de Poitrine have announced they will be bringing their electrifying performance to Australia for the first time next March as part of their Concerts de Musique 2027 world tour. The Québécois duo of Klek and Khn de Poitrine are known for their tight, pulsing drum grooves, interlaced with intricate tangles and looped melodic layers conceived from the double-neck microtonal guitar. Having earned widespread critical acclaim and enthused audiences across the globe with their rapturous and hypnotic performances, the Canadian band’s debut Australian shows promise to be wild rides of twists and turns and creative abandon. After a breakout year on the road touring Getting Killed, Geese will return to Australia and New Zealand in February and March for their largest headline shows in the region. The run builds on the band’s Australian headline debut in February, when feverishly sold-out underplays and a Laneway Festival run introduced the band to a much wider audience.Formed in 2016 while its members were still at school, Geese are Cameron Winter (vocals), Emily Green (guitar), Dominic DiGesu (bass), and Max Bassin (drums). On the heels of frontman Cameron’s widely-lauded and mildly befuddling solo debut Heavy Metal in Dec 2024, his idiosyncratic, soul-searching personal j

Songs To Brush Your Teeth To is our regular new mu Songs To Brush Your Teeth To is our regular new music update where we bring you five songs to listen to each week – our suggestion is to do that while brushing your teeth so you make new music a good daily habit, but honestly, you can listen whenever you like. We won’t judge. You can check out the playlist on Tidal, Spotify or YouTube.I’m scared to guess how many times the words “Olivia does remixes now” have blasted out across my house this weekend, as expectations has soundtracked my teeth brushing, laundry folding and pretty much everything else. Safe to say it’s a lot. Like most of the queer community I was desperate for new Chappell Roan music and so keen to hear this remix, and her first ever feature! I’m very glad it lived up to my expectationsWe all know I love a good serious topic wrapped up in a little pop parcel and this is exactly what Kayls Chest is. Exploring their feelings about being upset when someone misgenders them, whilst navigating the conflict of wanting to be honest yet also wanting to avoid conflict; it’s a fear that everyone in the queer community struggles with at some point in their journey.Kayls shares “My fatal flaw is that I really struggle a lot to be honest with my friends and family when I’m upset, because I hate the thought of making others feel that way. Writing this song kind of became my way of trying to grow a backbone and stand up for myself!”.I really enjoyed the energy on Sunday, there’s something about the rhythm of ELYK’s rap that drew me in. Lyrically, the song focuses on the amount that people rely on their devices and their constant device use, but within that is a nostalgia and reminiscence of the band’s younger days when they’d rather just hang out.I love the big, heavy guitar runs that dominate this latest track from Chelsea Daghita, and you hear her vocals take on a richness and strength to match this in a way we haven’t really seen on previous releases.“The song is about somebody who I wanted to care for, but they really didn’t have it together at all,” reflects Chelsea. “I thought I could be the person to help them out, but it got to a point where I just couldn’t stand seeing someone with such pote

Same new music recommendations, slightly new look! Same new music recommendations, slightly new look! I was feeling all kinds of emo this week when I started building this list so I make no apologies for the melancholy vibes.Swipe to see what you should be listening to. Bleakly melancholy, Colorado by Jesse Jo Starn perfectly sets the scene for this week’s list (It’s largely one of yearning). This gentle track sees Stark combining lyrical clarity with heavy emotions giving us a glimpse into her latest body of work.Speaking on her upcoming release MUSE she shares:“Writing is like bleeding. It’s gonna be a bitch to sing these songs”And you can feel that in Colorado, it’s in the ache of the lyrics and the way some lines are delivered so slowly, as if it’s an effort to share the words.Telenova’s Happy does contain beats of optimism alongside its yearning qualities. It’s sort of a darker take on 00’s pop. There’s these brighter elements in the music but ultimately it’s quite a depressing track at times.“Despite the tough exteriors, the ‘having it together’, the nonchalant facades that a lot of us out there wear, we’re all masking hurts, disappointments, insecurities at times.” explains frontwoman Angeline Armstrong “‘Happy’ is a bit of a ‘heart cry’, we wanted to give voice to what a lot of people in this world are feeling in a very real and simple wayHannah’s first single in three years Arm’s Length is told through the eyes of an anxious person as it explores attachment and the interplay of anxious and avoidant attachement styles. There’s a wistfulness in the song that isn’t quite hopefulness, but it soon gives way to a sad acceptance about how this relationship will progress.Of the song, Hannah says – “I wrote Arm’s Length while watching attachment theory play out in real time with a new person. I found myself noticing all of their avoidant tells and feeling like I (finally) knew better. There is something almost funny about watching the dynamic unfold from this place of understanding it – I think this song was my way of telling myself “you know how this goes”.”Alt-pop One More Hit is definitely one of the more upbeat tracks on this week’s list. The fast paced drums lift its energy as it tells
