Naomi Diane – Same Sky

I love this soulful pop track by Naomi Diane, a Melbourne/Naarm based Gamilaroi singer-songwriter. Driven forward by 80s inspired drum fills and Naomi’s crystal-clear voice, this emotive track about finding empowerment after heartbreak is definitely work a listen.

Celeste Kate – Intoxicated

I had the joy of hearing Celeste Kate perform this track live last week and it was stunning! Intoxicated – about the end of an unhealthy relationship is a powerful, emotive track. It blends raw emotions with a catchy hook to create a fab pop number. If you ever get the chance to hear this one live, I promise it’s even better than the studio version.

Labyrinthine Oceans – automata

Labyrinthine Oceans are one of those bands where I really don’t understand why they’re not more popular. Their grungy dreamcore hits perfectly, and new track automata is no exception. If you’re a fan of big guitars and lots of reverb, definitely give these guys a listen!

Lily Amiclo – The Look of Love

So Lily gets a ton of props because she slid into my inbox with words along the lines of “I see you like Alexandra Savior, I think you might like me too” (her actual words were far more eloquent than this), and I internally eyerolled, because do you know how many times a day I hear that someone sounds “just like…” and then it’s not even? But I got a sneak peak of Lily’s EP and, if you’re a fan of Alex’s work, I promise you’ll be a fan of hers too! Her recent cover of The Look of Love is a little taster of what’s to come, and if you’re a fan of cinematic, sultry tracks I’d highly recommend checking her out.

Amnesiak – Archfiend
Our fifth track this week is from London-based doom/gothic rockers Amnesiak, this is my favourite track off their new album, Arkfiend. It’s a haunting, enthralling track. I love the hypnotic drums, and the interplay between these and the high-pitched vocals. It’s one of those tracks that shows that simplicity can really pay off sometimes, and it makes great use of repetition both in the rhythm and the vocal phrasing to create something captivating.
