Danni K – Dressed Up

Danni K returns with her second release of 2026 Dressed Up. Telling the classic story of unrequited love, or that situationship that isn’t quite as into you as you are into them, it’s the kind of song everyone can relate too. I love the way it starts out as a light pop song with ethereal, echoey synths and vocals, but then the drums kick in, the heavier guitar riffs build and it slowly morphs into a much rockier sounding track.

ENOLA – Adore

I absolutely love this track by ENOLA. The lead single off recently released Nothing Lasts Forever, it charts the early days of a relationship where the connection is still new and full of possibility, but those doubts and uncertainties are starting to appear.

“That is a feeling that has always weighed on me deeply,” ENOLA shares. “Adore is a song about fear, vulnerability, and the risks of loving someone fully. It starts with the fear of entering a relationship, self-doubt, self-loathing, and the worry that you’ll hurt the person you love. The choruses shift the perspective, showing the other side: a deep adoration for someone so strong that it tempts you to take the risk anyway. It’s about being brave and triumphant in love.”

It’s such a raw, emotional track, very reminiscent of 90s grunge. I love the sparseness of the opening “I will hurt you, I will hurt” against just a very gentle guitar, it draws you in instantly and the repeated “I adore ya” of the chorus keeps you captivated as the song moves along, just catchy enough to stick in your head but not so much that it overrides the rest of the lyrical journey.

Sweetie – Dogtooth

I think it’s love song week, as Sweetie’s Dogtooth is another track about falling in love and the magnitude of what that might mean. Leaning even further into their gritty sound, Dogtooth combines the country and rock elements heard on earlier track Godzilla, but pushes those punk elements further, suggesting this is the direction the band’s new sound will take.

Vocalist Lily Keenan explains, “It’s about loving everything, the imperfections, the details, right down to their canines. What does it mean to love someone like a dog? Devotion, obsession maybe, or maybe just becoming something that can love without embarrassment. Dogtooth is a song that treats falling in love like a minor supernatural event.”

Matilda Pearl – Sunday

“You only want me on a Sunday”. The catchy chorus of Matilda Pearl’s latest release Sunday tells you everything you need to know about this track’s theme. Sitting solidly in our love theme it’s the story of realising that person only wants you around when it’s convenient to them.

It’s the perfect pop track and reflects Matilda’s growing confidence in her craft as she begins to solidify a consistent sound across her new releases. It’s high energy from start to finish, driven by central drums and fast paced lyrics, super catchy; it’s my favourite Matilda Pearl track so far.

Alli Kate – Mistake

And to finish off our love and relationship themed tracks for this week we have Alli Kate‘s Mistake. Her first release on One Day Records (EMI Music Australia) the track is focused on the heartbreak at the end of a relationship. The point where it’s all over, you look back and you realise all the warning signs were there all along. It’s such a great classic pop track, simply put together and allowing Alli’s honesty in her lyrics to really cut through and and be heard. It’s hard to believe Alli is only 14 years old when you listen to this one.

“If you’ve ever ignored the warning signs in a relationship because you trusted your heart, and learned the hard way this song’s for you,” says Alli.

Reflecting on the track, Alli explains: “It came about when I was thinking about a relationship that went wrong. I felt really betrayed. I know this can happen in any relationship – not just a romantic one – and I wanted to write a song about that.”
