The long-form format is far from dead. Our Album Reviews take a deep dive into the latest LPs, examining everything from production and lyricism to the overall narrative of the record. We focus heavily on the Australian music scene while keeping an eye on global releases that demand attention. If you want a thoughtful breakdown of a new album release, you’re in the right place.

Telling the stories of displacement and longing for a home that’s no more, or one that never really was, it speaks to anyone who’s migrated or living across cultures.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting RAYE’s sophomore album I’ve been eagerly awaiting RAYE’s sophomore album and I’m so glad This Music May Contain Hope turned out to be this good.

The album is a journey, from darkness to light, across four seasons. It draws on wide influences including jazz, hip-hop and musical theatre and its such a wonderful, emotional and complex album.

I’ll be amazed if this one isn’t on my short list for album of the year.
