We popped into Elsternwick’s Tacos ‘N’ Tequilas for an early dinner before heading into the city for the Nick Cave gig.
A large wall of mirrors makes the small venue feel more spacious, and the cute quirky decor give it a kitsch Mexican feel.

The menu ranges from smaller plates such as tacos and empanadas to larger dishes like nachos and quesadillas. Pretty much everything has a choice of fillings too so there are plenty of options available. Service is always prompt and friendly which is what made it a great choice for our quick, early dinner.
We opted for the corn and empanadas to share, followed by quesadillas and tacos for mains. The corn is beautifully cooked and generously topped. It makes a total mess when you eat it but it’s definitely yummy! The empanadas welre tasty, filled with a light, well flavoured beef mixture.

The tacos were so stuffed with filling I could barely lift them. The lamb was rich, juicy and meaty and the jackfruit is the perfect vegan option even if I do always chastise myself for ordering it as I find it a bit too spicy for my palate (but still order it again and again).
The quesadillas were cut into cute triangles and again were well filled. The shredded beef had a rich taste but didn’t overwhelm and was beautifully soft and moist. This is definitely a filling choice too!
We paired our food with glasses of white sangria, affordable at only $9 each and a perfect pairing to a Mexican meal!
