Taking inspiration from Taiwan’s street hawkers and lively night markets, Jymmanuel Eatery’s extensive menu is packed with such a great selection of main dishes and Taiwanese comfort food staples that you’ll be hard pressed to narrow down your choices.
Taiwanese Street Dishes
After much deliberation we finally opted to begin our meal with the salt and pepper popcorn chicken starter. The dish was a very generous serve, the chicken had a super crispy texture and was bursting with flavour thanks to the fried Thai basil, garlic, and salt and pepper spices. You can also choose your preferred level of spice too! For something a little different this is a great high protein option to kick off your meal.

As a couple of dumpling fanatics we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try Jymmanuel’s offerings. Available in pork, chicken and prawn, and vegetable options and either boiled, pan fried or, if you fancy something a little different, boiled in chicken soup, there’ll be something here to tempt you. We went for the pan fried pork which had a beautiful seasoning and wonderfully rich flavours; a very tasty dish and impressive for a menu that isn’t dumpling focused.

Robot delivery
From the main dishes, we went for the Beef in Black Pepper sauce. Presented on a wooden frame with a candle burning underneath a large tray of mouth watering beef and big colourful vegetables, this was certainly a great looking dish. The black pepper sauce was rich with a beautifully smoky flavour (no doubt thanks to the candle below), the beef was soft and tender and perfectly cooked, and the vegetables were abundant. With the addition of a bowl of steamed rice this dish alone was easily enough to satisfy both of our cravings and left us full and satisfied.

Maybe our favourite aspect of our visit to Jymmanuel was the happy little musical robot that shimmied around the room to deliver our food and drinks and added a little extra fun to the dining experience.
With a menu that can accommodate a range of budgets and filled with a considered selection of traditional and less conventional offerings, Jymmanuel is a great Taiwanese restaurant with a deliciously different twist that is well worth a visit.
