OCHISIA Return With Explosive New Single “Remains Of Yesterday”. Out June 20th

Newcastle’s rising alt-rock/post-hardcore act OCHISIA release their electrifying new single Remains Of Yesterday.

Remains Of Yesterday (due for release June 20th) is a sharp, emotionally raw track that contrasts heavy, tension-building verses with a melodic and reflective chorus. Lyrically the song explores the highs and lows of alcohol consumption. Lead singer Rhys Johnson shares: “This song reflects my brief stint with drinking heavily to the point where it affected me both physically and mentally. I wrote the lyrics to Remains of Yesterday to act as a line in the sand and a reminder not to fall into the trap of alcoholism the way that some of those closest to me unfortunately did.”

The track, dark yet ultimately optimistic, has a gritty energy driven by layered, harmonised guitar riffs. There’s a clear nod to 2000’s emo – think Funeral For A Friend’s urgency meets Black Veil Brides’ flair topped off with the introspective bite of Alkaline Trio. It’s got the rhythm and drive you’d expect from this era, with a decent guitar solo and just a little bit of an edge.

Mastered by Grant Berry (Busted, Stand Atlantic, All Time Low), it’s a clear evolution of OCHISIA’s sound and the perfect introduction to their upcoming EP In Your Absence, due for release on August 15th. The band will also release a second single Drenched on July 25th, ahead of their biggest headline show yet at The Cluny, Newcastle on EP release day.
