Why did it make the list: Japanese food full stop is just top quality in Melbourne right now and we struggled to pick a fave. We liked the timeless interior and relaxed atmosphere, as well as the delicious, beautifully plated food.

Suzie Scribbles’ insider tip: Try to save room to try plenty of dishes – but make sure you try the tatiki (and a cocktail)

Why did it make the list: Honestly, it’s been months since we’ve had time to go back and I still dream about their fish tacos. They take fish and chips to the next level here!

Suzie Scribbles’ insider tip: There’s a lovely dine in space at the back so it’s well worth staying in for your visit, but don’t forget you can always grab a takeaway too! Oh, and try the fish tacos!
