Tour News: The Buoys ‘Bitch’ single tour starts next month

Fresh off the back of their European ‘NO SLEEP TO REEPERBAHN’ Tour, The Buoys will begin their latest Australia Tour next month.

The tour, kicking off in Perth on November 28th, celebrates the release of their latest single Bitch. Produced by ARIA Award-winner Chris Collins (Matt Corby) and mastered by George Georgiadis, the new single taps into the moment that inspired the song: being unfairly labelled just for having an opinion. The word “bitch” gets thrown at women who dare to take up space, and the more powerful and wise they are, the more it seems to happen. And as we know, one of the top two things I’m here for this year is women taking up space, so it’s pretty fair to say I love this track.

The band’s lead singer and guitarist Zoe Catterall reflects on the track: I wrote this one with a good friend of mine Alistair Hayes. That day I was dealing with the classic case of ‘they’ll call you a bitch cause it’s easier than taking accountability for their actions’ type scenario, and I was trying my best to stay positive, but on my way to the session I got a comfort food snack and had a very light car prang while doing so… I ate my hash browns and had a cry in the car park before heading to the session lol, and what resulted was this beautiful chaotic song about being called a bitch, which is obviously not a fun time, but I’m so glad the song is really fun in spite of that.”

The Australian tour will see The Buoys take the stage in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth (scroll down for ticket details and dates). Since their formation, The Buoys have carved out a distinct place in Australia’s music scene, releasing a series of standout singles and EPs that culminated in their 2024 debut album, Lustre. The album received widespread critical acclaim (read my review here), debuting at #7 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart. It was also named triple j’s Featured Album in July and later earned a nomination for Australian Album of the Year. Known for their energetic and infectious live performances, The Buoys deliver a show that’s as fun as it is memorable, and one that you’re guaranteed to leave smiling.

Speaking on the upcoming tour, The Buoys said: “Anyone who’s been to a Buoys show knows just how much we love playing live and touring. Nothing compares to playing our own shows; the atmosphere people create at Buoys shows is unlike any other. Our fans are the nicest, coolest people we’ve ever met. To be gearing up for a tour around a new release makes that all the more exciting! We can’t wait.” Zoe Catterall.
