To celebrate the release of The Pigeon Detectives Greatest Hits album – Still Not Sorry here’s a run down of five of the best Pigeon Detective songs (according to me anyway).
A little background, The Pigeon Detectives are a five piece indie band from Leeds. They’ve been around for a little over 20 years now (the 2025 release of their best of album marks 20 years since their first single was released). Their relatable, high energy tracks have stood the test of time and their early hits remain equally popular today. They’re regulars of the festival scene and always put on a great live show.

I’ve been a big fan of the band since their early days (IYKYK) so here’s a run down of my fave tracks:
1. I Found Out
Arguably their most iconic track, I Found Out is the epitome of 2000s indie rock. With its punchy drums, jangling guitars, and shout-along chorus, it’s impossible not to get swept up in its rhythm. This is the song that truly captures the essence of The Pigeon Detectives’ sound.
2. Take Her Back
The relentless chant of “take her back” gives this track an infectious, almost hypnotic drive. It bursts with energy and delivers some great lyrics that make it more than just a catchy tune – it’s one of The Pigeon Detectives finest.
3. This is an Emergency
From the pounding drumbeat to the high-stakes chorus, This is an Emergency is made for jumping around in a crowd. That said, it’s the stripped-back acoustic version on the later album that really deepened my appreciation for it. Raw, emotional, and beautifully reimagined, it shows a more vulnerable side of the band.
4. I’m Not Sorry
I love the conflicting emotions in this track and its storytelling. While many of their songs tackle love and relationships through a youthful lens, I’m Not Sorry always felt especially relatable. As the (almost) title track of the new album I’m also not the only one who holds a special place for this one.
5. Stop and Go
A bit of a wildcard pick, especially since it didn’t make their greatest hits collection—but for me, Stop and Go is a hidden gem. I love the way it slowly builds, the punchy, staccato vocal delivery, and the rise and fall of the guitar riff. Plus, there’s a subtle nod to I Found Out tucked in there for the fans. Underrated but unforgettable.
