Eastern Suburbs Food and Drink

Pafu, Box Hill Central

Fusing the traditional French turnover with the Japanese Shou pastry, Pafu have taken Melbourne’s modern obsession with fusion food and created a range of truly delicious pastries.

Pafu

It’s clearly working for them, as they now have a number of stores across the whole of Australia, with many right here in good old Melbourne. You may think you’ve tried all there is to try in the range of pastries in the world, but trust us, these are well worth a go!

Pafu Box Hill Central

We gave the Box Hill Central store a visit (though you can find them in other large shopping malls including Chadstone, Melbourne Central, as well as QV). Conveniently located right next door to Hokkaido (just off Carrington Road), the big neon pink logo and bright interior is a real eye catcher. Modern and clean design make for a welcoming environment, and the huge curved window display is brightly lit to really show off their range of pastries.

The staff member was pleasant and helpful in explaining the range of choices available as well as making recommendations. In the end, i don’t think it would have mattered which ones we went for as Pafu’s pastries were exceptional. Light and flaky and filled with a rich creamy filling, we tried the coffee and chocolate as well as our favourite, the strawberry puff. They have more of a dessert feel than many European pastries and we thought they were the perfect size given their sweetness. The creamy filling gave them a little indulgent feel and they were so different from many of your traditional Melbourne patisseries.
