Review: Sideshow Burgers, Rosanna

Sideshow's unlikely Rosanna location makes this tiny burger joint all the more of a surprising discovery.

The details…

While Sideshow lives up to its name sake with it’s off the beaten track suburban location and tiny stature, its burgers are definitely the main event.

There’s table seating for about 20 people and then a window bar to seat an extra 6. With rustic wooden tables and half tone artwork on the wall, it’s a very classy, comfortable environment for a burger joint. We visited early in the week so it was quiet, but you could definitely imagine a good vibe here on busier days.

The menu is compact, with only 6 burgers to choose from, but with beef, chicken and veggies options – plus a good list of extras to customise your burgers they’re covering all the bases, and with prices starting at $10 they’re very affordable! We tried the Strongman (double beef) and the Ringmaster (fried chicken) with some loaded fries and onion rings, topped off by a salted caramel shake.

We loved how stuffed the Strongman was with ingredients, and that little cheese drool oozing out of the side. The burger was filling and very easy to eat, with juicy meat patties and perfect crispy bacon! The bun held up well, despite being well loaded. While there was a lot going on, the flavours blended well and no one ingredient dominated this monster burger.

The Ringmaster was a little more simple, but came with a generous piece of crisp chicken. The chicken was spicy and well flavoured and we liked the refined toppings that allowed the chicken to shine. For the more adventurous, add some bacon and an extra piece of chicken.

The generous portion of crunchy onion rings are the perfect burger accompaniment, or if you want something a little more filling go for the spicy loaded fries topped with sriracha mayo, green onion, furikake, bacon and jalapenos. Toppings are generous, but don’t overwhelm, leaving a good crisp on the fries. Our salted caramel shake was quite mellow, but offered a lovely, creamy accompaniment to the spicy burger and fries. So roll up, roll up and give Sideshow a visit!
