The details…

A25 is a surprisingly large pizzeria situated in the South Yarra area of Chapel Street. While maintaining that up market South Yarra feel, A25 is pleasantly casual with soothing background music, low lighting and floor to ceiling windows. While it certainly gets busy and the narrow layout can make it a little cosy, it manages to maintain an air of privacy for the smaller tables indoors. Outside there are larger bench tables allowing for bigger groups too.

We visited specifically to try their new vegan pizzas and we were delighted by the wide range of vegan options available – managing to enjoy a full three course meal all dairy free. We started with the Vegan arancini balls. These pumpkin balls had lots of flavour. I was surprised by their rich taste and while they weren’t as moist as the cheese-filled variety they had a lovely soft texture and were very enjoyable in their own right.

Vegan Pizza - A25 South Yarra
For our pizzas we tried the vegan veggie explosion and the vegan sexy truffle. The pizzas had a light thin base weighed down with generous toppings. The veggie explosion was my favourite – loaded with lots of different toppings and fresh colours it looked and tasted fantastic. Honestly, I didn’t even noticed it was vegan – there’s even vegan cheese available if you’d like too.

Sexy Truffle Vegan Pizza - A25 South Yarra

The sexy truffle had a rich flavour and was again generously loaded with toppings. The truffle infused raddachio took over a little and it would have been nice to allow the porcini mushrooms to shine just a touch more. However we loved that you got a real hit of truffle with every bite and it was another tasty pizza.

Sweet pizza A25

Finally for dessert we finished up with a sweet pizza. Generously loaded with vegan Nutella and strawberries with a scoop of frozen coyo it was a decadent vegan dessert and felt like a real treat. I’m loving the trend for restaurants to realise they need to be offering more mainstream vegan desserts instead of “healthy options” and this was a really enjoyable finish to our meal. Feeling thoroughly stuffed we’d highly recommend A25 to vegans and non vegans alike.
