New Menu launches at Astroluxe in time for Summer!

East Bentleigh's eclectic Astroluxe cafe has recently revamped their menu giving it a more summery vibe just in time for the warmer weather.

Astroluxe Spring/Summer Menu

Blue and white themed, surprisingly large, Astroluxe cafe has brought some fresh smoothies and lighter brunch options to the forefront on their spring/summer menu. The first highlight for us was the delicious smoothies. They are dairy free and with a host of summery flavours you’ll be spoilt for choice. We were taken by the simplicity of the mango one, as we love anything that can taste that good with just a few ingredients.

Drawing on a wide range of influences, Astroluxe still centres their menu around a core selection of classic breakfast and brunch dishes, including the huge big breakfast that we tried! This monster dish could easily have fed two with 3 hash browns, a huge cheese kransky and plenty of bacon, alongside grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. When you realise the kitchen is what you can see , you wonder how they make anything huge in somewhere so tiny. This is one of the best value dishes I think we’ve ever had. It will more than cure your morning hunger!

The newly added pancakes are an instant classic. They’re those thick, pillowy pancakes that make you feel like you’re eating air, while sneakily filling you up! The plate sings summer with a vast array of fresh fruit and two huge scoops of ice cream. If you’re craving sweets but want something a little lighter, we’d definitely recommend the pannacotta. With another great fruit selection and a tangy lemon sorbet this dish is one for those days when you’re just too hot to eat!

Finally we were drawn to the summer mushrooms. The addition of leeks was a really interesting choice, giving the dish a good punch of flavour almost reminiscent of a soup. It had both that wonderful, happy feeling of winter comfort food and the delicacy of a perfect summer dish. We really enjoyed its generous portion of mushrooms, tangy goat curd and just a slight topping of cheese. If you’re a meat lover I’d pair this one with a side of bacon just to finish it off perfectly!
