Luxsmith Bar and Wine Shop, Seddon

Expanding from the modern Asian eatery next door, Luxsmith Bar and Wine Shop opened its doors in Seddon

Owners Andy and Denis have a 25 year working history and friendship (Toofey’s, Bistro I, Italy I), and knew that opening Luxsmith restaurant in 2015 would be just the start.

Luxsmith Wine Bar Seddon

‘We always wanted to open a bar & wine shop in the West. These days wine bars are the new ‘local’ – a spot where you can call in for a beer or a wine & catch up with a mate – just like Denis & I have always done over the years’, says Andy, a long-time Seddon resident of 20 years. ‘It’s a place to meet or to stop in for a cheeky take-away bottle on your way home from work. After we settled into the rhythm of Luxsmith, adding a bar & store on the corner was a natural progression for us both.’

Cocktails Luxsmith Seddon

Alongside 12 rotating wines by-the-glass, hand-picked by Ben Knight (Botega, Thousand Pound) you can also enjoy over half a dozen cocktails created by manager Tom. Tom has been slinging drinks behind the bar in the restaurant for over a year so he seemed the natural choice to head up the new space. Highlights from the cocktail list include Patient Wolf, featuring local Brunswick gin, the rum based Seddon sea monster, or the Isaac Washington ’77 (Tom’s take on a “Toblerone”). Finally, add some spiced snacks from the kitchen next door to finish off your evening.

Luxsmith Wine Bar

Luxsmith’s interior flows seamlessly from restaurant to bar featuring black industrial steel and finished with polished concrete and low lighting. This cosy bar is an ideal spot to grab a drink and chill out with friends. Alternatively, take advantage of the bottle shop and take a bottle home to enjoy with dinner; either way, it’s a welcome addition to the Seddon neighbourhood!
