With 9 years experience in the luxury chocolate market, expectations were high for our first visit to Sisko Chocolate. Upon entering we were immediately confronted by a beautifully bountiful display of all kinds of wonderful chocolate concoctions. Large tables and well stocked shelves hold everything from their delicate butterflies and signature flowers to their boxed collections, hot chocolate sphere gift boxes and even monstrously large jazzies; there is something here for every occasion.
The space itself is split into two rooms, each large and bright, but while the entrance area is filled with dazzling displays, the seating area is much more simple, with well spaced light wooden tables, a large central communal table, and purposefully sparse decoration. It certainly captures the luxury feel the brand is associated with, feeling clean and minimal but with subtle flashes of flair to give that added touch of class. Service was welcoming and professional, with our server, Joanna, chatting to us about our chocolate preferences and even offering a healthy selection of samples for us to try, all the while describing the company’s history and the services they offer.
The chocolates we tried were rich with a good sweet flavour. The white chocolate had a lovely creamy texture, and the milk chocolate salted caramel was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, it instantly became a favourite. All chocolates are made locally in their Hawthorn studio where they even offer custom chocolate creations for those special occasions.
When our hot chocolate arrived, the presentation was striking. Served on a long dark tray, the milk chocolate sphere sat in a clear glass, with a small jug filled with hot chocolate beside it. A complimentary chocolate and glass of water completed the set. Once again, the service was great as we were informed of the best way to go about pouring the hot chocolate to get the best effect. The final hot chocolate, with the marshmallows having emerged from the dissolved sphere, was great, with a lovely texture and a just-sweet-enough taste.
All told, Sisko at Eastland offers up a classy and relaxing environment with great staff and some truly decadent treats. The perfect place to take a break from a busy day’s shopping. Keep you eyes peeled to see if Sisko make it into our Best Hot Chocolate List, coming soon!
