Melbourne’s best new openings 2018:
So the year is still in its infancy, but here are some of our top picks of new cafes and restaurants in and around Melbourne so far this year:
5. Braybrook STN, Braybrook:
In 5th place is the newest opening from the Workshop Bros crew. Braybrook STN is following in the footsteps of their big sister over in Northcote and is making waves for all the right reasons. They’re changing the way you’ll view shopping centre cafes, and we’re excited to see what’s coming up on their new menu launch. Make sure you read our full review of Braybrook STN.
4. Charisma, Off A’beckett Street, CBD:
This crisp and cute little cafe is already nailing CBD brunch with its laneway location. Charisma’s varied menu and delicious food make this one a winner. Be sure to leave room for a chocolate (we forgot to)! Have a read of our full review of Charisma.
3. The Tamper Trap:
This well lit corner unit on Brighton’s Bay street is owned by a team who’ve worked at some of Melbourne’s finest brunch establishments. Luckily they took good notes, learnt a lot and they are definitely ready to take on the big boys with their menu of brunch classics with a unique Tamper Trap twist. Be sure to try their pannacotta, which made our best of list. (Full review of the Tamper trap is here).
2. The Albion, South Melbourne:
You must be living under a rock if you don’t know the journey The Albion has been through, but they’re back, bigger and better than you ever could imagine. This lifestyle venue has something for everyone from lunch, to after work drinks, dinner and late night opening. Find out more about the Albion in our review.
1. This is Life Wellness, Elwood:
I’m actually hoping This is Life Wellness builds a little unit out back for me to sleep in. From the environment, to the food this little Elwood gem easily tops our new openings of 2018. The beetroot waffles are a MUST try, their smoothies taste and look amazing and the service is faultless. Be sure to check out their gorgeous courtyard when you visit and read out full review of This is Life Wellness.
Syndicate Room, Sandringham: This cafe missed out on our list by a mere 2 months as it opened late last year, but it’s still a great venue to check out and it’s nice and close to Southland too!
